About Dixie Dust
Dixie Dust is an all female celebration of Southern Classic Rock. Not only are the girls professional musicians with impeccable skills, they are also quite easy on the eyes and full of energy for an entertaining stage show! The girls decided on the Southern Rock genre in particular according to lead guitarist Susan because “it's a genre that we all love and enjoy, but where women are sometimes under-represented and it was a good excuse to get together to party- southern style!”.
From The Monika Jaymes Band, who have been reviewed as a "Must See" Live performing band and a "newly discovered gem" with a country / classic rock edge, Monika Jaymes joins the group as a powerhouse singer full of sweet southern passion. She has graced the stages with such notable performers as Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Joe Nichols, Artimus Pyle, Parmalee, Jason Michael Caroll, Edwin McCain, Rehab,The Lacs, Nantucket, The Moonshine Bandits ,Vaughn Penn, Michele Malone, Frontiers and Betty, just to name a few.
Guitarist Susan Darney joins the band from Shoot to Thrill – the all female tribute to AC/DC- where she covers the role of Angus Young just as well as the boys. Shoot to Thrill has headlined clubs like House of Blues and opened for Bret Michaels and Great White.
Rhythm guitarist Wendy Brancaccio joins the band from the original music scene. Wendy is an accomplished singer/guitarist/songwriter who has had songs in movies and on Lifetime TV. Her musical gifts even landed her face on The Tonight Show where Jay Leno described her as “a hottie”.
Bass guitarist Susan Beach, joins the group as a former member of the popular Heart tribute, Heart Brigade. Susan has played to huge crowds in venues like the Filmore in Charlotte and toured all over the East Coast with her many other successful projects including rock/dance bands and acoustic duos.
Keyboardist Phoebe Hubbs is branching out of her classical and jazz bubble to rock with Dixie Dust. By day, her musical talents are employed teaching young children, but by night, Phoebe dons her boots and unleashes those Skynyrd solos.
Drummer Kate Martin is a true percussionist. Kate has toured from NC to Toronto and was in the running to become Beyonce's drummer!The girls look forward to meeting y'all and they are not just whistlin Dixie, the girls are in town and they are 'here for the party'!
